Running in the 2008 Presidential Elections: Millions of dollars

Campaign ads: Several Thousand dollars

Watching Hillary on national television as she realized her staff did not do thorough research: Priceless

My dad wrote a blog yesterday, and I know I already wrote a post about it, but….

It got my brain a-thinking. I think that being honest when our teachings of faith do not line up with experiences, makes faith easier to understand. How is it that we think that because we do not understand something, then it must not be true? Fact is, I want my God to know more than me. I know that sounds silly, but I’m just being honest.  Things will happen that I do not always understand, but that does not mean that my faith is wrong or flawed. Or that it is a blind, thoughtless faith. It means it is faith.

When being honest about faith this way, I would hope it makes it more understandable, reachable, and livable to others.

If you haven’t read the post I am talking about, go read it now. You are welcome.

I spent the ENTIRE weekend hunting for a lamp. Who knew there were so many ugly lamps in the world. I didn’t need an old lady lamp, or a tall skinny lamp, an ultra cool futuristic lamp or a lamp with antlers. I needed a lamp to sit on my new desk at work. Something nice and stylish, but not ridiculously noticeable. And a few decorative wall pieces. “It shouldn’t be too difficult” I told my husband.  It took a little convincing for him to agree that it was worth spending our personal money for something that will be sitting on my desk at work. “I’ll just find a cheap lamp, like, $7 dollars or something.” He cautiously agreed and I set off on the hunt for a cheap, lovable lamp.

I figured it would be easy - A few stores at most.

wrong.

I went to ( in order:)

Hobby Lobby

Mardels- for decorative stuff, not a lamp. strike one

Big Lots

Gordmans

Bed Bath and Beyond

Barnes & Nobel – strike two for decorative items

Stowes

Michaels

Target

Tuesday Morning

Target – different one

Walmart

And then I gave up and went home.

But on Sunday, I wrangled up enough energy and tried again. Kirklands,Pottery Barn, Mathis Brothers, and finally, Garden Ridge. And then it happened. I was about to give up at Garden Ridge but I walked down the isles once more. I happened to glance up and on the top shelf . There is was. For $7.

My soul is at peace now. My poor feet can rest.

I like to re-arrange furniture. I drives my husband nuts.

This might save me a few back aches:

Virtual Room Planner

I heart it

If held vertically with feet touching the floor, an hour old infant will invoke a walking reflex.

A six week old infant loses this reflex and will no longer imitate a walking motion if held upright.

If the six week old infant is placed in water, the reflex returns and the infant will propel their legs forward.

 Bonus fact:

Elephants are the only mammal that can not jump.

And now you know.
