September 2008

Aaaaaaaa, the fall line up for TV is back!

I really wanted to give up TV for good, but there are two three shows I would be so sad to miss.

 Chuck- starts Monday!!

The Cleaner -soooooo good

And finally:

I absolutley love and hate this show. I love it through and through, I hate it because I wind up bitting my nails every week while watching.

Want to know a secret? If I could step into the shoes of any character on the show, it would be this guy:

He is kind of my secret hero. If you have never watched the show, watch an episode. Then think about this post, and you will crack up laughing that I would adore this character as much as I do.

Shows I am giving up this fall : Gray’s anatomy  - so OVER it.  Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives.  Actually, I am going to try and pass on most shows on TV this fall and get a little more out of my days. Maybe read a book or something.

I am home sick today. Let me just say, I am NEVER eating Mexican food again. The last time I ate Mexican food, I was sick for 4 days.  Either a) I have had two separate but bad experiences b) One incident was food poisoning, and this time it is a stomach bug (Jeremy had a stomach bug a few days ago) or c) I am getting old and can no longer tolerate particular types of food. I am hoping it is not c but I doubt I will try for round three to find out.

So while I initially thought I might be able to get a few things done around the house today, all I have managed to accomplish is getting one load of laundry into the washer. 4 hours ago. It is still sitting in the washer. So what have I done all day? Well, let me tell you:

a) discovered there is nothing good on tv in the daytime

b) drank 1/2 bottle of pepto-bismol

c) ate 2 pieces of toast, then drank the other 1/2 bottle of pepto

d) tried to read a book, got dizzy and starred at the tv for 30 minutes before I found the energy to find the remote and change the channel.

f) surf the net and found these:

I love Jesus, I just drink a little:

Tina Fey on SNL:

When I was 15, my favorite song was Hanson’s Mmmbop. Since then, I have kept up with their music and still love them. But I never really acknowledged it to anyone because, well, it’s Hanson. And I’m an adult now and should have a life. There were in town tonight for a concert, and I have to say, I can’t hide it anymore. I love their music.

Over the last year or so, I have really  made an effort try and broaden my taste in music and listen to a few other bands/musicians outside of my normal, oh, 7 artists or so.  Well, thanks to the concert tonight, I’m pretty sure my ipod will be sick of Hanson again by the end of the week.

I did not have my camera with me tonight, but my friend Sherri did. So once I get copies from her, I will post them.

My dear friend Chassity got married this past weekend. Chass and I met in college. I remember the day we met. She was sitting on the steps of the prayer chapel, and I sat down with her to chat.  We have been through a lot over the years. This weekend made me realize how much I love her and value our friendship. She was my maid of honor, and I was delighted to be able to be there for her wedding.

We drive 1500 miles in three days and it was a fun road trip with two other bridesmaids that I went to college with.  Inside of that 1500 miles were at least 10 bathrooms breaks, one civilized conversation about politics ( which by the way Jess, I am so glad we had a chance to chat) about 37 jokes about poop, 27 burps, 6 changing of drivers, several naps and a great deal of ipod usage. I knew better than to sleep and leave myself open to incriminating pictures:

The same can not be said for the other two in the car :)

The wedding was perfect. The ceremony went off without a hitch and the decorations were beautiful.

Here are some pics:

Chass and her mom putting on her jewelery:

Going to the reception: (The groom loves John Deer)

This is Chass’s “Don’t You Dare shove that cake up my nose” face:

Friends:

Several of the Bridesmaids went to school together:

She was a beautiful bride, and the two are a very sweet couple. Best wishes Chass & Dustin!!

Take today to remember the heroes and those lost on 9/11

On Monday, and every Monday after until the end of the semester, I will be attending a class at OU on brain development and attachment. Taught by a child psychologist I greatly admire. Who studied under Anna Freud ( you know Sigmund Freud, the father of psychology? Yeah, his daughter) and with Mary Ainsworth.

And I get to go to the class for free (!), just because I have a cool job with cool people that thought I might find it interesting. If only they knew. They invited me and I walked away feeling like I just won the lotto.

I can’t tell if I am excited because I get to go back to class or because of the content of the class itself.  I know, I know, NERD.

This is my dog Eddie.

He does tricks.

His favorite is getting off of his bed in a sleepy stumble and sit beside you for a moment. He then leaves and stubles back into his bed, gets comfortable and goes back to sleep.

A moment or two later, an odd odor punches you in the nose. No matter what you do,  it does not leave you. Not until you have gagged at least four or five times.

Fortunetly, Eddie loves to perform this trick for my Jeremy more than me. I keep telling Jeremy it is sweet payback for all the times he has farted in the middle of the night and woke me up. At 2 am. When I was fast asleep. Karma my friend, Karma.

Our country now has a potential women vice president, nearly 88 years to the day that women won the right to vote.  Our country has come a long way over the past 90 years. Whichever party wins the election, history will be made.

It’s amusing to watch people I know who are all for one candidate over the other. I will say this though, I would never survive if I had to work in politics.  All this conflict is so awkward and it makes me feel like there is no air left in the room.

I think I have realized one of my biggest pet peeves. It is when someone makes a decision and believes in it so strongly, they think anyone who does not think the same way, must be wrong. What is true for you may not be true for me. I’m not saying that truth is subjective because it is not. But my experience may be different from yours. Therefore, my view of the world is different than yours. Why can’t we all just get along people?

There is a lot more that could be said, but it would sound preachy so I will let it drop.

Overall I think it is a neat time for our country and I am excited to see civil rights moving forward.
